The Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Representatives, Yusuf Zailani, has won re-election to represent Igabi state constituency in the assembly.
Governorship and House of Assembly elections were held in Kaduna State and other regions on Saturday.
The returning officer, Bashir Yusuf, who announced the results in Rigachikun, said Mr. Zailani of APC, polled 45,889 to defeat his nearest rival, Ibrahim Usman of PDP, who scored 23,163.
Mr Yusuf said Saifullahi Haruna of the Labor Party (LP) came third with 1,698 votes while Yahya Shuaibu of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) got 1,242.
He said that the total number of registered voters was 216,236 while the accredited voters were 76,288.
“Zailani Yusuf Ibrahim of APC, having met the legal requirements, is hereby declared the winner and re-elected,” he said.
Mr. Zailani has won the seat for the fourth time.
