2023 election: PDP’s Umo Eno wins Akwa Ibom governorship election | The Guardian Nigeria News

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umo Eno, has been declared the winner of the governorship election in Akwa Ibom State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday announced that Eno won 29 of the 31 Local Government Areas (LGA) in the country with a total of 354,348 votes.

Eno, a former Commissioner for Lands in Akwa Ibom, will succeed governor Udom Emmanuel, whose tenure ends on May 29, 2023.

The candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Bassey Albert, was the closest competitor to Eno with a total of 136,262 votes, while the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akanimo Udofia, was with a total of 129,602 votes.

The candidates of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Akpanudoedehe John James, and Uduakobong Oeter Udoh of the Labor Party scored 12,509 and 4,746 votes respectively.
