Lagos Speaker wins sixth term | The Guardian Nigeria News

The Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has been elected for a sixth term to represent Agege 1 constituency in the state house of assembly.

Dr Lukman Adeniji, the INEC Returning Officer for the Agege constituency election, made the declaration on Sunday at the Collation Center in Orile Agege.

He said eight political parties fielded candidates for the election held on Saturday.

According to him, Obasa got 17,214 votes to defeat Mr. Raheem Alani of Labor Party who had 3,933, Kafayat Biobaku of ADC with 62 votes and PDP, who got 1,609 votes.

“Mubashiru Obasa from APC has satisfied the legal requirements, has counted the most votes, is declared the winner and is re-elected,” said Adeniji.

In a related development, Alhaji Jubreel Abdulkareem, of the APC also won the Assembly seat 2 of Agege constituency.

Abdulkareem, a former Chairman of Agege Local Government, got 15,676 votes to beat the Labor Party and PDP candidates who polled 7,159 and 1,598 respectively.
