Late last year, after ages of what can only be described as “divorce hype,” Kalani and Asuelu seem to have reconciled.
Beyond filming for some types 90 Day Engagement “All Stars” couple counseling spinoff, we do not know the details of their relationship today.
It does not mean that Kalani has been radio silent.
She just shared a series of beautiful family photos, along with a little update on how she spends her time.
Kalani Faagata took to Instagram on Thursday, March 16 to share a series of precious family photos.
Each pic includes some combination of the 33-year-old mother and her two sons, Oliver and Kennedy.
In particular, Asuelu Pulaa is not seen in the photos – some show them on the beach, others on the plane. But some fans have speculated that he could be a photographer.
“Enjoy a quiet life,” the 90 Day Engagement: Happily Ever After? star wrote in the caption.
His emojis are what make this curious: he includes a grimace emoji (like, gritted teeth, not the purple blob monster from McDonald’s cinematic world) along with two hearts emoji.
Our guess? Kalani meant to use the regular smiley emoji, and chose it wrong. It could be worse. Many people send eggplant emojis at the wrong time. That’s how it is.
There are three main interpretations of Kalani’s “enjoying a quiet life” caption.
The first is that he is just relaxing and enjoying life in his new home. The second is that he and his family have taken a break from reality TV.
And the third thing is that this may be a veiled reference to the status of Kalani and Asuelu’s relationship.
Okay, let’s break it down, item by item, starting with the big move. Last year, the family moved from Utah to California.
Kalani’s parents live in California, but it’s more than that they’re closer to family.
Utah has some nasty problems with racism and white supremacy. Yes, all Americans do – this societal evil goes back to the roots of our nation, and it will take generations of work to clean up these systemic injustices. But, unfortunately, even for the US, Utah has a significant racism problem.
Kalani opened up to her followers about some of the racism she and her family have experienced.
Among other things, apparently some monsters refer to their son as the N word.
Obviously, he and his wife and children are ethnic Samoans. But that obviously doesn’t matter to racists. And the hatred behind the worst literal slur in the English language is palpable.
Even as he and Kalani appear to be on the outs, Asuelu also opens up about the hardships he faced in Utah.
Asuelu in particular highlighted how it was not surprising for the police to blast their sirens and pull them over at various traffic points.
Is it possible that he has some real traffic violations? confident. But we all know that many white Americans have expectations much Traffic violations will fly under the radar. Racial profiling and unconscious bias (not to mention conscious bigotry) mean that millions of Americans don’t have that luxury. especially in Utah, apparently.
Obviously, Kalani and Asuelu have other problems in their marriage than persistent and systemic racism.
There will still be racism in California, even if perhaps they can find another society accepting and less racism.
So maybe Kalani’s caption mentions a peaceful life after moving.
Did they take a break from filming? Well, if so, not much of a break so far.
See, just earlier this year (we’re in the middle of March!), Kalani and Asuelu were filming in the Florida Keys.
We don’t know much about this that hasn’t been announced 90 Day Engagement spinoff, but the news is supposed to be a bit of a “marriage boot camp” situation. Oh, and unfortunately, Kalani and Asuelu have to spend time at Angela’s. We don’t want to fight our worst enemy.
It’s not just the latest filming, but there are major clues that could be showing up on our screens again.
Kalani and Asuelu have not disclosed their relationship status to their fans. No news of reconciliation, no breakup announcement. In fact, we have seen separate photos that show that they were clearly in the same place at the same time, but did not post pics of each other.
All of which indicates that he still has a contract … which usually, but not always, means he’ll be making more movies.
Finally, this is about their relationship status? We honestly don’t know. And we don’t know because they won’t, or can’t, tell us. Which… are we just talking about.
Kalani who is “peaceful” can come from singles. Or it may come from a new balance and respect in the marriage.
We won’t know until he tells us. And of course they won’t tell you before the event. Odds are they are still together in some form, but we can’t say for sure.
