The heart wants what it wants – and for Selena Gomezhe lives a single life.
At Just Murder in the Building star often shares relatable TikTok videos about the status of her relationship with her 40 million followers, whether she makes herself laugh-out-together content or lip-syncs to audio clips bemoning her dating life.
“I’m finally single, I’m 24 years old, and everyone’s dating pool,” said the “Lose You to Love Me” singer on TikTok from April 2022 through a video clip Leslie Mannthe speech Another Woman. “And now it’s like, a shallow puddle of age-appropriate men who are old and rough and I don’t want to do that!”
This particular movie quote is very true for Gomez, who is separated from Justin Bieber – that he has been dating on and off for more than seven years – confirmed by Us Weekly in May 2018 (when he was 25 years old). Her early 2018 reconciliation with the “Ghost” singer came after her split in October 2017 with The Weeknd, whom she dated for 10 months. The Disney Channel alum has previously been linked to other A-list stars, including Nick Jonas, Orlando Bloom, Charlie Puth and others.
In a January 2020 interview with The Wall Street Journal, the “It Ain’t Me” artist revealed that she “has been single for over two years.” She prefers to be alone at the time, explaining, “I need time alone. I like to go to my room at the end of the day. It’s just me and my dog. I get into a full granny panties situation, stretched out on the bed.
However, Gomez’s perspective on their relationship status seems to have changed since then.
“No, I’m fine. I’m totally fine being single. It’s a real thing. I’m fine,” the actress deadpanned in a May 2022 TikTok video, pointing the camera at two couples cuddling on the couch next to her. As her friends giggled in the background, Gomez gave the camera the main side view.
