Ganduje dismisses purported move to revoke Kano Golf Club property | The Guardian Nigeria News

The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has refuted the allegation of the Kano golf club’s withdrawal insisting that the allegation is one of facts to settle a political score.

The guardians of the only green area that was originally owned by the British colonial rulers before it was handed over to prominent people, alleged that the government has perfected a plan to lease large tracts of land to private developers.

Addressing reporters on the allegation, Kano Club Committee Chairman Rufai Ahmad Tanko said the land purchased in 1908 with a 99-year renewable title is a recreational heritage and value.

He wondered why the state government decided to remove the value of Kano’s greener heritage for commercial purposes despite prompt and consistent payments from the annual grant tent.

However, the statement by the state commissioner for information Malam Muhammad Garba claimed that the content of the letter sent to the owner of the club, has not mentioned the seizure of the land, saying that this rumor is only intended to smear the good image of the government.

According to Garba, the owners of the club have only been notified of the expiry of the said land right from April 6, 2019 and must comply with the due process.

The Commissioner said that as a legal agency saddled with the responsibility of land management and informed by the renewal of land administration in the country, the State Bureau of Land Management ensures the payment of ground rent by property owners as well as the renewal of land titles.

Malam Garba added that the title of the oldest Golf Course issued on April 6, 1979 has expired and the bureau has informed the club about the expiration of the title and the need for urgent settlement of the ground lease, only for online publication, itself. by opposition elements in the country to twist the story in favor.

He said the story emanating from the owner of Daily Nigerian, said to be a member of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) will stop at nothing to destroy the ruling party in the country.

While denying the story, the commissioner said the status of the club remains and called on the public to be wary of agents of destabilization creating confusion in the country and therefore called for the total rejection of the story.
