Nico Tortorella and Bethany C. Meyers Welcome First Child

The “rainbow baby” has finally arrived! the younger ones Nico Tortorella and his wife, Bethany C. Meyershave welcomed their first child, a baby girl, on March 5.

Tortorella, 34, and Meyers, 35, announced the news on Monday, March 13, via Instagram with their first family photo. “I fell in love with a dove. introducing Kilmer Dove Meyers Tortorella. Welcome to earth,” Tortorella wrote.

Meyers, meanwhile, detailed the home birth process. “We had a beautiful, powerful, raw, emotional, fast, safe and healthy birth,” she shared. β€œHe was actually born in a tent, surrounded by a circle of mothers (a rude care team), spirits of ancestors past and future.

The new mother also explained the importance of the baby’s name Kilmer Dove: “Kilmer is the last name of my grandfather, my mother’s daughter. Dove because Tortorella means ‘dove’ and throughout the journey of infertility she has come to us through birds. Doves for many days. “

One week into parenthood, the couple is enjoying raising their little one. “We wake up every day in awe of finally getting our prize,” Meyers added. “It is worth every tear, every heartache, every needle, doctor and dime. After years of fertility struggles, the couple took to social media in August 2022 to announce that they were expecting baby number 1.

“Rainbow baby coming 3.9.23,” the fitness instructor captioned a photo from the couple’s maternity shoot via Instagram Story. “It’s literally our wedding anniversary.”

After the initial announcement, Meyers detailed and Walking Dead the star’s excitement about pregnancy and empathized with those who may struggle with fertility problems.

“There is a lot to say about this unexpected story about how we ended up pregnant, but today I just want to sit in the excitement to share the news with you all. Our baby 🌈 is in my belly,” she said via Instagram at the time.

The Missouri native continued, “For those of you who are still on your journey to parenthood, I know this news may be painful. I know some of you are just going through another failed cycle, or finding out your pregnancy isn’t going to work, or some other disruption in your life. This wild game is called trying to conceive.

Meyers also offers hope to anyone struggling with infertility. “About a year ago, an infertility warrior who finally had a rainbow baby told me this – ‘suck until one day it doesn’t happen’ and she was right,” she said. “Sending love to everyone. More on our story to come.”

The couple has previously opened up about their desire to start a family.

β€œI’m really good with babies! And we’ve been talking about having a baby forever,” Tortorella exclusively shared Us Weekly in June 2019. “I feel like our babies will just choose when the time is right. We’re not the only ones making those decisions.

Tortorella and Meyers met in college and married in 2018 after 12 years of dating. Couples, who both identify as non-binary, have often gotten candid about being in a polyamorous marriage and the frustrations that arise when people do not accept or understand the relationship.

“There’s definitely a lot of people in the community who are like, ‘You know, you’re male, you’re female, you’re all straight, like why are you talking about all this β€” t'” the actor said us. “It’s really annoying, and sometimes I go to some of my best friends and, like, I spiral. I’m like, ‘I don’t always feel valued by society or validated by society.'”
