President Muhammadu Buhari has denied reports that he ordered the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, and the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, to disobey ‘court orders’.
The President spoke through a statement by his media assistant, Garba Shehu, on Friday.
He urged the general public to ignore the report as the president never gave the directive.
“The Presidency wishes to respond to some public concerns that President Muhammadu Buhari has not responded to the Supreme Court ruling on the issue of the N500 and N1,000 currency, and to state here clearly and distinctly that at no time did he exercise. The Attorney General and the Governor of the CBN did not obey the order of the court involving the government and other parties.

“Since the President was sworn into office in 2015, he has never led anyone to defy court orders, believing that we cannot practice democracy without the rule of law and the administration’s commitment to this principle has not changed.”
“Following the ongoing debate on compliance with the legality of the old currency notes, the President, therefore, wishes to state unequivocally that President Buhari has not done anything willfully and deliberately to obstruct or obstruct the administration of justice.”
“The President is not a micro-manager and he will not prevent the Attorney General and the Governor of the CBN from carrying out the details of their duties in accordance with the law. In all circumstances. At this point it is debatable if there is evidence of deliberate refusal by both of them to order from the apex court.
“The President’s directive, after the meeting of the State Council, is that the Bank must provide all the necessary money and no one can change that position.

“It is a fact that the President really respects the judicial process and the authority of the courts. He has done nothing in the last eight years to act in any way to obstruct the administration of justice, to cause a lack of confidence in the administration of justice, or to disturb or undermine the judiciary and there is no whatever reason you have to do it. do it now when you’re getting ready to leave the office.”

“The negative campaign and personal attacks on the President by the opposition and all commentators are unfair and unjust, because no court order at any level has been issued or directed against him.”
“As for the cashless system that the CBN has determined, then the fact that many citizens who are suffering, are surprised to support the policy because they believe that this action will reduce corruption, fight terrorism. , build an environment of honesty and strengthen the leadership of the President who is not corrupt. “
“Therefore there is no sign of blaming the President for the current controversy over the lack of cash, despite the judgment of the Supreme Court. The CBN has no reason to disobey the order of the court on the pretext of waiting for the direction of the President.
“President Buhari also dismissed the impression that he lacks compassion, saying that “no government in recent history has introduced policies to help the economically marginalized and vulnerable groups like the current administration.
