From bachelors to family men! Hugh Grant never said he did not believe in monogamy – but that before marriage Anna Eberstein.
At True love star tied the knot in 2018, but the love of life has been a topic of conversation since the 1980s. Grant made headlines in 1987 when he and Rowing into the Wind costar Elizabeth Hurley started dating – and again in 1995 when he cheated on her.
The duo were one of Britain’s hottest couples before they split in 2000 after 13 years together. Their relationship, however, was not without faults. In 1995, Grant was caught having an affair with a sex worker Divine Brown, which was then attributed to a lack of confidence as an actor. (She and Hurley dealt with cheating scandals but eventually called it quits in 2000.)
“I’m going to launch my first Hollywood movie – my timing is not perfect. My problem is – it’s my first Hollywood movie and I’ve only got to see it,” the Write it again the actor explained during the March 2021 appearance in Marc Maron“WTF” podcast. “The film was coming out a week or two after that, and I had a bad feeling. I went to see the screening. Everyone there was really nice, but I was so bad that I couldn’t think of anything good.
Despite Grant’s rudeness — and his split — the English native “remains the best of friends to this day, but … he really annoys me,” Hurley said during a March 2015 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “I love him, but he’s so annoying.”
Grant echoed his former sentiments during a 2018 interview on Jess Cagle show. “We’re like brother and sister,” she admits. “I think it’s partly because we went from zero to nowhere together, and we had those terrible years at the beginning when neither of us was working, living in a small flat. It was quite a bond.
While Grant’s relationship with Hurley has remained intact over the years, his path to being a married man has been a bit complicated. At Notting Hill The actor raised eyebrows in the mid-2000s when he welcomed three children back to back with two different women.
The two-time Emmy nominee became a first-time father to daughter Tabitha in the fall of 2011 with his ex-boyfriend. Look at Hong. A year later, she and Eberstein welcomed their son, John. A few short months after that, Grant and Hong became parents to their son Felix in February 2013.
Despite being in the 50s, the Gentlemen the actor chose to embrace his father and everything he had to sacrifice.
“It made me better,” Grant said Us Weekly in February 2015 became a parent. “One of my kids really wants to say goodbye – she’s only 2 – to everyone, including the grocery delivery person, anyone. She gets hugs and kisses and I think that’s great.
When in Paddington star is so excited to be a father, he is still not sure about saying “I do” with Eberstein, who later welcomed two more children between 2015 and 2018.
“If you ask the question, ‘Do I think humans should be in monogamous and committed relationships for 40 years?’ No, no,” Grant said Howard Stern on his SiriusXM radio show in August 2016. “Who said that? I think there’s something unromantic about marriage. You close yourself off.”
Two years later, the cancel it alum wed Eberstein. He claimed in June 2018 Today showing the appearance that marriage is “really good. I can’t pretend.” Grant added: “I should have done it earlier! But I’m just lucky, I’m lucky. I have a good wife. I love him, yes.”
