Information gathered by DGN Online indicates that a 22-year-old soldier, Imoro Sherrif who was killed in Taifa, Ashaiman suburb of the Greater Accra Region was killed by an iPhone 6.
Sources told DGN Online that, the two main suspects allegedly killed soldiers attached to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) band in Sunyani because they wanted to collect the iphone.
He is said to have resisted and tried to fight off the attackers when one of them stabbed him.
The suspects then took the cracked iPhone6 in the process of the struggle and disappeared from the scene, leaving the young soldier to his fate in a pool of blood until he died.
The police announced on Saturday 11 March 2023 that the two main suspects involved in this heinous crime have been arrested.
He prepared for the trial.
But four other suspects have also been picked up by the police in connection with the crime and are helping the police with the investigation.
The four are people who buy and also sell phones in the municipality.
The police have been able to trace the phone and retrieve it to help with the investigation and prosecution.
The call, according to DGN Online sources, was taken from a driver near the Ashaiman overpass early Sunday morning.
The interrogation of the suspects is currently underway at the Police Headquarters in Accra in the presence of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare who has shown great interest in the case by staying in Ashaiman on the day the main suspect was arrested.
Imoro Sherrif was laid to rest on Thursday, March 9 at the Burma Camp Military Cemetery in Accra.
Imoro Sherrif was horribly murdered on Saturday, March 4.
The Military High Command last Tuesday sanctioned an intelligence-led operation to fish out the perpetrators of the crime.
