Josephine Nkrumah, ECOWAS ambassador in Liberia raises alarm over death threat

3news reports Madam Nkrumah as having said in a letter to the ministry of justice of Liberia that said a Facebook user, identified as Carson, posted on the social media platform, urging the mayor of Monrovia to send him “down six feet”.

According to Facebook users, the killing of the ECOWAS ambassador will draw the international community’s attention to the insecurity in Liberia.

However, Madam Nkrumah did not take the matter lightly, so the complaint went to the Liberian authorities.

It is expected that the Liberian authorities will act quickly on the complaint by fishing out and arresting the Facebook user, and also strengthen Madam Nkrumah’s security.

He resigned from NCCE last year to take up the ECOWAS project and was later replaced by Kathleen Addy.

While swearing in the new NCCE boss at Jubilee House on Friday, June 16, President Akufo-Addo rubbished claims that the independence of the commission has been compromised by the political administration.

“Madam Chairman, I do not need to remind you that you are not subject to the direction or control of any person or authority in the performance of your functions, including me as the Chief Executive,” he said.

The commission works to promote and sustain democracy and inculcate in Ghanaian citizens, awareness of rights and obligations, through civic education.
