Black Stars climb eight places in latest FIFA World Rankings after World Cup campaign
Ghana’s impressive run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been rewarded with a significant rise in the latest FIFA World Rankings.
The Black Stars have climbed eight places to 65th in the world following their performances at the tournament, marking the second-biggest improvement in the latest rankings behind Norway, who moved up 12 places.
Ghana’s rise comes after reaching the Round of 32 at the World Cup, where they advanced from a challenging group that included England, Croatia and Panama before exiting the tournament with a narrow defeat to Colombia.
The rankings boost also sees the Black Stars move up to 14th in Africa, strengthening their position on the continent ahead of the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The latest rankings reflect Ghana’s progress under head coach Carlos Queiroz during the World Cup, where the Black Stars recorded a victory over Panama, held England to a draw and qualified for the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams before bowing out in the Round of 32.
The eight-place rise is Ghana’s biggest jump in the FIFA rankings in recent years and provides further encouragement as the team begins preparations for its next international assignments.
