Roy Keane has warned Manchester United that a “circus” is returning to the club after Erik ten Hag’s side were humiliated 7-0 by Liverpool at Anfield.
United go into the match on an 11-game unbeaten run and are fresh off ending a six-year trophy drought with a Carabao Cup win over Newcastle at Wembley last weekend.
But they were overwhelmed by Liverpool on Super Sunday, with six second-half goals in a stunning collapse to suffer their heaviest defeat since Boxing Day 1931.
And Keane, talk to Sky SportsWarned Man Utd players about getting too carried away by their recent success, said Ten Hag and senior players should keep a close eye on how the squad deals with the added attention on them.
He told Sky Sports: “The thing I’m always wary of is Man United, they won the trophy last week, there’s a lot of celebration and of course I’m not going to underestimate the team. But they’re against West Ham, I’m in the game, and the circus is back in town in Man United.

Keane added: “I’m always careful as a player there: Watch people, don’t rush because you know what this game can do for you.
“I saw the players come today in the second half, laughing and joking. They lost 1-0 at Anfield and they laughed and joked with the Anfield staff, the goalkeeper coach. I don’t know. I like to see all the rubbish.
“I think the circus can get in again and managers and senior players have to be careful. It was the same with West Ham the other night: Lots of presentations, celebrations. I know one or two – but not four. or five.

“West Ham [in the midweek FA Cup tie] let them die, because they are not good enough.
“Today at half-time, there were players walking down the tunnel laughing and joking. You’re 1-0 down at Anfield, this is serious business.
“It’s a big boy and forget all that rubbish laughing and joking. And in the second half some players threw in the towel, you don’t expect to be laughing at the end of the game.”

Keane went on to say that Man Utd’s “senior and experienced” players were “stopping the club” at Anfield.
The former United captain also added that he would “hide” if he was a player who put on that type of display.
“I never thought United would be back to their best,” he said Sky Sports.
“They’ve had great results. They’ve given teams a chance – Leicester at home, West Ham. Teams have let it go.
“Liverpool didn’t let them go and punished them. That’s where they have to get credit. They were clinical, ruthless. They went forward and wanted more goals.

He added: “The senior players at Man United, the big players, the ones we did well, the experienced players – he is the one who is letting the club down at the moment.
“When three or four, you take medicine, you lose. The way it opens, the manager tries to change, throw in the towel.
“I try and imagine: If I have ever been defeated in a big game like this, I will hide as a player. You will. Don’t think about a few days, a few months!
“It’s a shame for the players. What can you do? That’s the game. They have to bounce back and have a big European game in midweek.”

Graeme Souness says Man Utd players are more in the spotlight than at other clubs and thinks that could be a problem for some Ten Hag teams.
“Some of the Man Utd players have to look at themselves now,” the former Liverpool midfielder told Sky Sports.
“When I played at Liverpool we always felt that if Man Utd did anything, they got more publicity than they deserved.
“It should be a problem playing at Man Utd.”
He added: “In Germany, Bayern Munich is known as FC Hollywood. Man Utd is the same as England.
“Playing for Man Utd the same thing applies. You get a lot of publicity and attention, more than any other football club.
“You have to have a strong senior character in the dressing room to control that kind of behavior where lesser lights can be brought in.
“That’s the price of a ticket at Man Utd. It’s hard to be a top player at any top club that the media scrutinizes, but at United it’s on another level, and the players have to deal with it.”
