Chris Rock finally claps back at Will Smith for that Oscars slap

American stand-up comedian, actor and filmmaker, Chris Rock finally got his revenge on Will Smith who slapped him on stage in 94.Th Academy Awards in March last year.

Smith walked on stage during Rock’s presentation for Best Documentary feature and slapped the comedian in the face. The slap was in response to a joke Rock made about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head, who has been shaved since 2021 due to a condition called alopecia acreata.

Chris Rock live Netflix special

On Saturday, March 4, 2023, Rock became the first person to ever perform at a live show on Netflix.

Robbie Praw, Netflix’s Vice President of Stand-up and Comedy Formats said in a statement on Tuesday that he is thrilled the whole world will be able to experience Chris Rock’s comedy show live and be a part of Netflix history.

“This will be an unforgettable moment and we are very happy that Chris is carrying this torch,” added Praw.

And an unforgettable moment, especially when the comedian ripped Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith in the final moments of the live Netflix comedy show, Chris Rock: Fury Chooses.

The comedian didn’t hold back any punches saying he believed Smith committed “selective rage” and that the slap had more to do with Smith and his wife, Jada’s, relationship struggles, rather than an Oscar joke.

“We’ve all been lied to, everyone here has been lied to, none of us have ever been interviewed by someone who lied to us on television,” Rock joked. “He hurt her more than he hurt me.”

He went on to joke about how everyone in the world called Smith a dog and the actor didn’t answer when he tried to call him. “Everyone is called a dog. The Breakfast Club called dog people and The View and Discussion. Everyone calls the man a dog and the wife a predator.

Everyone called him a dog, everyone and who did he beat? Me,” said Chris to loud laughter from the audience.

Netflix South Africa announced on Sunday that Chris Rock: Fury Chooses now streaming on the platform.
