
The legislator said considering the country’s economic ailment, the new cost is colossal for ordinary Muslims.
“I am disappointed in the exhibition that has been announced, it is simply not acceptable. Not only is it the highest in the sub-region so far, but how can we now, and in this economy, calculate the exhibition at GH¢ 75,000 in this economy.
“Some people think it’s a luxury, but it’s not, it’s one of the 5 pillars of Islam that Muslims are required to do.”
He concluded that the astronomical fees as announced by the Ghana Hajj Council are the highest in the sub-region and will prevent some members of the Muslim community from honoring their religious obligations.
