Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is famous for his selfless philanthropic works, but he is also known as one who believes that many of these interventions should not be in profile.
After completing the reconstruction of the magnificent Kumasi Central Mosque, Dr. Bawumia will wax lyrical about this and boast about the historic achievement at the commissioning of the facility on Friday.
However, others included the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who praised the Vice President for what he has done for Kumasi.
When it was Dr. Bawumia’s turn to speak, he was clearly amazed by the praise he received, especially from the Kumasi Central Mosque Committee and the Asantehene.
The Vice President praised God for giving him the wealth to carry out the amazing project but insisted that the intervention was God’s will.
“My gratitude goes to the Almighty God who has given me guidance, guidance, and commitment to be able to carry out this great project. I was touched by Allah SWT when I visited the mosque in 2020 and knew that it needed urgent attention,” Dr. AS Bawumia said.
“As for the mosque, God built his own house. They just use people to do it,” added the Vice President.
The Kumasi Central Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in the country.
The mosque used to have a capacity of 3000 people but now it has been rebuilt and converted to a capacity of 7000 with other facilities such as a 500 capacity conference room, an expanded ablution area, the offices of the Imam and Chief Zongo as well as two-bedroom apartments for guests.
