Set an example by returning your ex-gratia – Dan Kwaku Yeboah dares Mahama

Speaking on Peace FM, Kwaku Yeboah said Mahama needs to set an example to prove that he means what he says.

“You said that in 2015, he was the government, but he could not be removed, now he is on the (opposition) bench, are you going to remove him or not? Make an example of what you have done so that it can be an example of what you say.” he said, as quoted by Ghanaweb.

“If the former president brings ex-gratia, Kwame I will campaign for him, I will clap for him. Let him say that he did what Togbe Afede did, then he is doing the same…Kwame this is a big campaign message.

“I want them to lead by example, actions speak louder than words…

The comments came on the back of Mahama’s campaign launch in the Volta Region, where he promised to scrap ex-gratia payments to Article 71 executives if he is elected President.

“Ex-gratia payments to executive members under Article 71 will be abolished. And the necessary constitutional steps to abolish such payments will begin in earnest in 2025,” said Mahama.

“We will also begin the process of persuading other governments besides the executive to accept the abolition of this ex-gratia payment.”

Mahama is seeking to return to power after losing the 2016 and 2022 presidential elections.
