UTSUNOMIYA —TNT Tropang Giga lost to Korean champions Seoul SK Knights, 80-69, in the East Asian Super League Champions Week at the Nikkan Arena here.

After starting hot and holding the fort in the first three quarters, Tropang Giga’s offense conked out when it was most important in the loss that officially snuffed out the club’s chance in the five-day showpiece.

Calvin Oftana had 16 points, while import Jalen Hudson added 14 for TNT. Mikey Williams scored 13 points as another reinforcement Daniel Ochefu ended up playing a decisive game with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

However, TNT’s tying outing could not be found in the opening minutes of the final frame, where the Korea Basketball League champions turned on an 11-0 run to seize control of the contest.

Jameel Warney and Kim Sun-hyung were big again, scoring 21 points each as SK Knights expanded 2-0 to lead Group B. Leon Williams added 20 points.

TNT finished the tournament with a 0-2 card after suffering a 99-66 defeat at the hands of B.League club Utsunomiya Brex in their opener.

The Philippines still plays with another PBA representative San Miguel Beer. However, the road for the proud club has been hit hard as June Mar Fajardo (left knee) is out for the remainder of the event.

The Beermen play another Korean club in Anyang KGC on Saturday at the Okinawa Arena.
