Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (DNY) on Thursday lashed out at Fox News, accusing the conservative network of being the main propagandist – a “giant megaphone” – of manipulating Donald Trump’s 2020 election.
Schumer urged viewers of MSNBC’s “All In With Chris Hayes” to flood the channel with calls for the host who pushed the lie to admit he did it.
“The first thing I’m going to do right now is call on listeners and listeners across the board to just flood Fox News with, ‘Retract, apologize, stop this lie,'” Schumer said.
It’s “the worst lie that’s been told in the history of our democracy as long as I can speak—because it’s eroding faith in the whole company,” he said.
Errlier this week, Schumer and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries wrote an open letter to Fox owner Rupert Murdoch, asking him to do just that, after it emerged that Murdoch admitted under oath that several hosts “endorsed” Trump’s lies on air, and that he regretted it. .
Schumer told Hayes that he had not heard from Murdoch.
“If not, we will have to see what else we will do,” he said, adding that it would take “a few days” to respond.
