Eric Trump and his wife, Lara Trump, drew criticism Wednesday after sharing a glitzy photo of themselves dressed in their finest attire ― as many Americans continue to grapple with rising costs.
Donald Trump’s son posted the image on X the morning after a state dinner hosted by the president for Britain’s King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
“What a beautiful night in D.C. with @LaraLeaTrump!” he wrote.
“Now off to Vegas,” he added, noting he would attend a bitcoin conference.
Critics piled on, saying the post had “let them eat cake” vibes and accusing the couple of flaunting their wealth and privilege at a time when many Americans are struggling financially.
The backlash came just days after Eric Trump faced scrutiny from Democratic lawmakers over the $24 million Pentagon contract awarded to robotics startup Foundation Future Industries, where he serves as chief strategy adviser.
