Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has inspected work on the construction of classroom blocks for Kwaboanta Presbyterian Junior High School (JHS) in Ayensuano District, in the Eastern Region. The project, which is nearing completion, was sponsored by the Vice President to fulfill his promise to the Presbyterian Church.
After the decision of the Church to build a centenary heritage commemoration project on its centenary, Dr. Bawumia promised to sponsor the construction of the JHS building for Akuapem Presbytery to serve the people of Kwaboanta and its surroundings.
Dr. Bawumia who visited the project site to ascertain its progress ordered the contractor to include a computer laboratory which will be provided when the project is completed. He thanked the Almighty God for giving him the guidance and strength to undertake the project and commended the Presbyterian Church of Ghana for its immense contribution to the development of Ghana.

Appreciation
In his appreciation to the Vice President, the Coaltar District Minister for the Presby Church, Reverend AL Odai, recalled how Dr Bawumia was “touched by the Holy Spirit” to make a pledge for the Church and the community. “Mr. Vice President, I want to say that the children of this community are very happy about this project and thank you sincerely,” he said.
“We know that the good Lord will help you to accomplish the glory of his name,” said Rev Odai.
Lurah Kwaboanta, as the representative of the people, also expressed his appreciation to Dr. Bawumia for his concern and generosity towards the Church and the community.
Veep pledges his support
As part of his commitment to the people of Ghana, Dr. Bawumia who has in the last few years contributed to various groups and organizations, including donations and sod-cutting ceremonies for the construction of the Liberty Assemblies of God hospital in Accra in February 2023, has promised continued support for the people of Ghana.
Philanthropic activities
The Vice President has also donated GH¢200,000 to the Anglican Church, an 826-hectare Diocese of Accra rubber plantation in Assin Nsuta in the Central Region, and a cash donation to support the Church of Charismatic Evangelism (CEM). Disabled Village Project (PLWD) in April and July 2022.
To support the victims of the collapse of the Welfare Church building in Akyem Batabi in the Eastern Region, Dr. Bawumia donated GH¢200,000 to the Church, as well as a new Pick-Up Vehicle for the Ghana Boys Brigade in October 2022.
In September 2021, he made a separate donation of a minibus and GH¢20,000 to the North East Council of Churches and the Minor Basilica Church of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows in Navrongo for the maintenance of the 101-year-old building. He also donated a bus to a church in Kumasi at the same time.
The Vice President also contributed seed capital of GH¢100,000 for the construction of the Mother Theresa Soup Kitchen Center in the Greater Accra Region, and has supported the Christ The King Church Soup Kitchen in various ways for the past seven years.
He has also donated GH¢50,000 in June 2021 to the Catholic Church in Bolgatanga for the construction of a new cathedral for the Church in the Capital of the Upper East Region, and two separate donations of 500 seats to Makers House Chapel International, Accra; as well as a donation of more than 500 sacks of rice to support the COVID-19 support program in May 2021 and 2020.
In the Northeast Region, Dr. Bawumia has made different donations to the Church, including a donation of GH¢10,000 in December 2020 to support the construction of a Christ Church building for the people of Gbaningbani in Yunyoo district, and a GH Donation of ¢20,000 to complete the rectory of a Catholic priest in Walewale Parish, as well as some cash donations for the Wulugu Assemblies of God Church in the same area in August 2019.
The Vice President who described the Church as a development partner praised them for their contribution to the development and peace of the country.
