The big Olympian earned bragging rights with a derby win over Hearts of Oak
Great Olympians continued their impressive new run against city rivals Hearts of Oak in the Mantse derby, with a 1-0 win at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The match was played in front of a small crowd, but the intensity was high with both teams from the start.
The first half was goalless, and it looked like the match would remain as it was in the second half. However, in the 50th minute, Michael Osei was brought down in the box, earning a penalty for the Great Olympics.
Samuel Ashie Quaye confidently stepped up to the plate and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, slotting the ball into the bottom corner to give his team the lead.

Despite the late pressure from Hearts of Oak, the Great Olympians held strong to secure the victory and extend their unbeaten streak against their rivals to six games.
The win saw Great Olympics move up to 12th on the league log with 26 points, while Hearts of Oak moved out of the top four.
Overall, it was a well-deserved victory for the Great Olympians, who showed resilience and determination to claim all three points.
The result will certainly give them confidence going into the next match, while Hearts of Oak will be left to reflect on what went wrong and how they can bounce back from the defeat with their next game against fierce rivals Asante Kotoko.
