But punters continue to back Yousaf
This is how the S Times reports its Panelbase poll of Scottish voters. Remember that it will be SNP members who ultimately decide:
Almost a quarter of those surveyed (23 per cent) wanted Forbes to replace Nicola Sturgeon, who announced her resignation this month, while 15 per cent preferred Yousaf and 7 per cent preferred Ash Regan, the former community safety minister. Among SNP supporters Forbes led Yousaf as his successor favored by a narrower margin of two points. Forbes polled 20 percent, Yousaf 18 percent and Regan 9 percent.
What is needed is a poll of SNP members which has been seen in other leadership contests as a good predictor.
