Sam George said UNESCO should establish ‘Gobe’ as a nature reserve
Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament, Samuel Nartey George, has said that the popular Ghanaian food made of Gari, Oil, Beans and Eggs called ‘Gobe’ is a national asset that should be designated as a national reserve.
“Gobe is a national asset; we should petition UNESCO to establish it as a nature reserve because gobe has saved many lives” he said on 3FM 92.7 MHz in Accra.
Sam George made this call on the back of the postponed 3FM Gobe Festival scheduled for Saturday March 4, 2023 at Tetteh Quashie junction roundabout near Accra Mall.
The Legislature emphasized that GOBE is affordable, but rich in essential nutrients that nourish the body. He also noted that this nutritious Ghanaian food is the most reliable and affordable food for both the rich and the poor.

”GOBE is a national treasure. We have gold, we have oil, we have bauxite, and we have ‘gobe’. This is a life saver” Sam George called on all Ghanaians to pay the respect they deserve.
Nutritionist Fred Amese has also announced that GOBE contains nutrients that improve fertility in both men and women.
“For what to eat to get quality sperm and ovaries, ‘gobe’ (beans) is number one, with palm oil, and garnished with plantains. It is very rich in protein and fiber, and all foods with fiber give sperm quality good. If you look at the nutritional composition, carbohydrates are also included,” said the nutritionist.
He explained that the micronutrients present in ‘gobe’ ensure the reproductive process that many people ignore. However, micronutrient deficiency is called “hidden hunger” because its effects are invisible and alarming.
“In this country, we have what is called ‘hidden hunger’ which is a lack of micro-nutrients where people eat normally, but because the food is not balanced, they do not meet their nutritional needs, so the body is hungry even if the stomach is full” Nutritionist Fred Amese said on 3FM.
