Eboni K. Williams are talking about Ramona Singerdeparture from The Real Housewives of New York City.
With season 14 premiere date looming and a RHONY: Legacy cast has not been confirmed, Eboni looks back at the time in the series, explains why he and Leah McSweeney no longer friends, details of the “bad” drama that took place after season 13 wrapped up, and announced plans to welcome their first child.
“I think Ramona, if I remember the statement that was on the record, like, ‘My time has come and gone,’ I think it’s accurate,” Eboni admitted of Ramona’s exit from the show on an episode of Access Hollywood. Housewife Nightcap.
And Eboni believes that Ramona is a RHONY legend and representative of nostalgia for the series, he does not feel that his former castmate has evolved in the way that he should have, especially considering the world “more global and culturally diverse and interesting” than it was when the show began.
“Ramona is a woman of a certain age, [but] I’m not just going to give her an age pass. It’s his personality. She is a woman who knows about white-centric, Upper East Side New York, and this is the limit of New York society for her,” she explained.
Then, after suggesting that Ramona isn’t what many think, saying “not really” when one of the hosts pointed out that she didn’t make tens of millions, Eboni seemed to indicate that she believed Ramona was indeed fired.
“[That’s] why is he so bothered by the loss of this $1. whatever check he got,” Eboni noted.
According to Eboni, she doesn’t think that Ramona should be fired from the show, but she feels that she should make room for another look. Sonja Morgan it’s over.
“Sonja remains Sonja, and Sonja said, ‘It’s time for us to step back a bit, make a little space for the new era of New York boss b-tches.’ And that’s why it really had to be done with me and Sonja and a few others,” she said.
Although Eboni is still on good terms with Sonja, the same cannot be said about her and Leah. He became estranged shortly after production on season 13 ended.
“Leah and I have a genuine friendship… [But] we are work friends. That’s all,” Eboni noted of their relationship, going on to suggest Leah drop her as a friend because she felt she would stay on the show.
“When I’m kind of a hot button item, you’re either a big fan or you really don’t like me on the show,” Eboni explained. “I understand. Leah is a single mother and it’s like, more money than she’s ever seen in her life, and just more opportunities and it’s an incredible platform and she says, ‘I want to cut my losses and I’m going to align myself. what [I] believe [is my] the best chance to continue on the platform.’”
Looking back on how the 13th season ended, Eboni said that she and her friends actually landed in a “sweet, fun, light place.” So, in terms of moving on, he felt that if the producers added one or two, it would be “golden”.
“I can only be a revolution and an expansion of the old and the new,” he explained.
However, when the cameras went down, disputes began to erupt.
“I expressed my feelings and reacted to the episode directly when it aired. Some of my friends didn’t like it very much, so it started a press war and this nasty leak,” he recalls. that anyone, including the network, knows how to keep us coming back.
Although Eboni wants the show to continue, she says that appearing during the session is “worth it” because it not only enhances her brand, but also allows her to grow as a woman, and she notes that the idea of two shows is “genius.”
As for her future, Eboni released her second book, Bet on Blackon January 31.
“There are so many amazing books about the Black experience, about Black Americana, and the global diaspora in Africa and it’s amazing. But a lot of these narratives are stories of trauma and things that are painful and hard, hard facts. And they’re real. But there’s a lot it’s a beautiful celebration story and a beautiful evolution and elevation and rise when it comes to black people in this country historically and today, and that’s what happened to be the story that I wanted to tell,” he said. stuffing.
In addition to the lack of information he wanted to read, Eboni was also encouraged to write the book by his ex. RHONY castmate, who said to her, “Wow, Eboni you don’t look like you’re struggling. I can’t tell by looking at you [that] there’s a problem with being Black and I’m confused because, you know, you dress better than me.
“I think two things: Number 1, it’s stupid, but it’s also sad that the only narrative of Blackness you have in your brain is a sad trauma story about down-trotting, woe-is-me,” Eboni admits. “This underlines the importance of this book. It is very important that people, including other black people, have the understanding that a narrow and unfortunate narrative is far from the only thing that needs to be understood about blackness.
Eboni is also seen considering a return to television.
“RHONY and Real Housewives… It’s not the only iteration where we can see an extraordinary and original personality – a genuine group of friends exploring amazing cities like New York to stay tuned,” he teased. “You might see me in a Girls Trip; You might see me at a new event with a new brand.”
Also during the interview, Eboni revealed that she is in the process of becoming a mother.
“I’m really into the journey of single motherhood,” Eboni said. “I have an embryo and I’m going to move at the end of this year, so I’m right. I hope, God willing, the baby comes soon.”
On the dating front, Eboni said she recently got back into a relationship with a man she dated years ago.
“We just know each other. Everything is very chilled, very relaxed, but he wants to see,” said Eboni. “I won’t force it and I won’t fight it.”
