Sports Ministry donates GHc50,000 to Sellas Tetteh to support medical expenses

In a recent interview, he appealed to the Ministry of Sports and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to do what they want.

The issue has been discussed on various media platforms, with sections of the public participating in campaigns to get paid.

On Monday, the Deputy Minister of Sports, Evans Opoku Bobie, led a delegation to visit the coach and donate GHc50,000 to him.

A statement from the Ministry said the donation was made to President Nana Akufo-Addo to help Tetteh meet the coach’s medical needs.

“The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Evans Opoku Bobie, on Monday February 20, 2023, led a delegation of officials from the Ministry to visit the ailing former Black Satellite coach, Mr. Sellas Tetteh at his home in Accra,” the statement said.

“The purpose of the visit is to ascertain the coach’s health condition and also to make a cash donation of 50,000 Ghana cedis (GHc50,000) on behalf of HE @NAkufoAddo to meet the coach’s medical expenses.”

This comes after Ghana captain Andre Ayew previously donated to Tetteh last week following a public appeal.

Ayew served as Tetteh’s captain when the Black Satellites were crowned U20 world champions in 2009 after defeating Brazil in the final.
