Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is not dealing with a major wrist injury, The Athletic and ESPN reported Monday.
Antetokounmpo traveled to New York on Monday for further tests on his sore right wrist, ESPN reported, and per The Athletic and ESPN, the examination found no serious damage.
He reportedly has strained ligaments and will be able to return once the swelling and pain subsides.
Antetokounmpo played just 20 seconds in Sunday’s All-Star Game, still bothered by a wrist injury he suffered in the Bucks’ Thursday road win over the Chicago Bulls. Antetokounmpo scored his first basket of the All-Star Game with a lay-in and immediately followed it up with an intentional foul that took him out of the game.
Team Giannis went on to defeat Team LeBron 184-175 in that game.
“Take it day by day, try to get healthy,” Antetokounmpo said Sunday. “You know, obviously I experienced what happened three days ago. I don’t think it’s smart in any way to … play that many minutes in the All-Star Game.
Antetokounmpo also went through the All-Star Skills Challenge on Saturday night.
Antetokounmpo, 28, is averaging 31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 47 starts this season.
The Bucks return from their break on Friday and will host the Miami Heat. Second-place Milwaukee is 41-17, a half game behind the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference.
