Obi will empower women, pull families out of poverty, says LP Women Leader | The Guardian Nigeria News

Ahead of Saturday’s general election, the National Women Leader of the Labor Party (LP), Dudu Manuga, has assured women that the party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will prioritize women empowerment to lift many families out of poverty.

Speaking Monday in Abuja, Manuga described Obi as the only candidate who has raised many people through capacity building and has proven to be a visionary leader.

Noting that male politicians have for years, humiliated women in politics, destroyed their businesses and undermined them when they were in leadership, they are confident that Obi will change the narrative if elected.

“Obi has done well in terms of policy implementation and his ability to build character and individuals cannot be overemphasized,” he said.

According to him, the vote for the Labor Party will equip women and girls to stand out in the global market through education, training, and world-class research that will allow the country to nurture more accomplished women who will compete with the best in the world and represent Nigeria in the global market place.

He maintained that Nigeria would move from a country of consumption to one of production, which according to him, would create employment for women and their children.

She noted that all Nigerian women want is a country where the health sector works for everyone, and where the poor and the rich get the health care they need.

“We also want a country where women will no longer die in rural areas giving birth, where we can travel in peace without fear, where we can sleep with our eyes closed. We want a Nigeria where everything works, where our children will develop.

Adding: “We want a Nigeria that recognizes that women exist; we want the five bills supporting women’s rights that the National Assembly refused to pass. That is what the new Nigerian women want.
