CLEARWATER, Fla. – After beating No. 15 Arizona, 2-1, in the morning game, the Texas A&M softball team completed a twin bill sweep of No. 20 UCF, 7-0, on Saturday night at the TaxAct Clearwater Invitational.

Led by freshman Riley Valentine’s two home runs and five RBI, the Aggies secured their second top 20 win of the day. It marked the first time the Aggies defeated two ranked opponents on the same day since Feb. 23, 2018, when they defeated No. 5 Oregon, 3-1, and No. 19 Cal, 5-1, in the Mary Nutter Classic.

Junior Trinity Cannon was the first Aggie to contribute a solo shot to left field in the top of the first, while Julia Cottrill scored after a single and a trio of wild pitches in the third.

Senior Shaylee Ackerman handled business in the circle recording her first career seven-inning shutout striking out four, while giving up just three hits and one walk.
