Christian Atsu’s twin sister and older brother were at the site when the bodies were found on Saturday according to Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
The Embassy of Ghana in Türkiye is now making the necessary arrangements with the assistance of the Government of Türkiye for the body to be transported to Ghana for burial.
According to the ministry, “unfortunate news about the recovery of the body of Christian Atsu from the ruins of the apartment,” after the earthquake that hit Türkiye on February 6, 2023.
This comes after almost 12 days of tortuous search by rescue teams,” the ministry said.
The Embassy of Ghana in Türkiye who sent the sad news, said that the body was recovered this morning, Saturday, February 18, 2023.
“Christian Atsu’s older brother and twin sister and Embassy Officers were at the site when the bodies were found.”
“The government expresses its deepest condolences to the widow and family of Christian Atsu. The Embassy is now making the necessary arrangements with the assistance of the Government of Turkey for the remains to be transported to Ghana for burial. The public will be updated on further developments
