Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings has considered the demand by pensioners for total exemption from the Domestic Debt Exchange Program (DDEP).
In a tweet on February 11, the MP spoke about the need for values and principles to defend vulnerable people.
Challenging that it is society’s responsibility to protect the most vulnerable.
His full tweet read: “Values and principles have no face! By the way society treats the most vulnerable, we can judge what values we hold dear. And in that situation, the Invisible Hand gives us the opportunity to act. to defend these principles. Retirement in my mind! “
Her tweet was posted a day after former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo joined retired bondholders who have been picketing the Ministry of Finance since February 6 demanding total exemption from DDEP.
Mrs. Akuffo’s involvement also saw the government’s handling of the program and the general economic situation of the country.
He received severe backlash via social media from New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko.
In his second appearance at the picket this week, he responded to Gabby’s criticism among other things by calling her an unimportant distraction to him and his life.
Meanwhile, the government has closed the subscription window for DDEP announcing a subscription rate of 85%.
Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta told retirees that coupons will be honored even if they choose not to register, as they are exempted from the program.
Ofori-Atta appeared in Parliament to answer questions on the program on February 16, 2023.
