Joe Biden, 80, remains healthy and “fit for duty”, the White House doctor said after a physical examination of the US president whose health has focused on his second term.
“The president remains fit for duty and carries out all of his responsibilities without exemptions or accommodations,” White House physician Kevin O’Connor said Thursday in a summary of the health exam.
The test is being watched closely as Biden prepares for a second term in 2024. The summary said Biden did not suffer from “prolonged COVID” symptoms and that his stiff gait had not worsened since his last test in November 2021.
Biden said his physical was fine. “Everything is great … Thank God, for small favors,” he told NBC News.
Biden’s three-hour session with doctors at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in the Washington suburb of Bethesda, Maryland, was his second extensive examination since taking office in January 2021.
