BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (February 15, 2023) – The Southeastern Conference will once again use TrackMan technology for conference baseball games during the 2023 season to help train and educate SEC umpires.
TrackMan uses patented Optical Enhanced Radar Tracking (OERT) to transmit data from tracking systems installed in baseball stadiums. TrackMan technology continues to evolve, and the V3 stadium system is now used by 13 SEC schools and more than 170 colleges across the country.
The SEC will use the data sent by TrackMan to monitor every pitch of every game for accuracy by SEC umpires and will use the information generated to train, educate and improve performance.
“TrackMan is excited to continue our relationship with the SEC and provide in-game data to help train and educate referees,” said James Snikeris, NCAA account manager for TrackMan. “This partnership reflects the SEC’s commitment to improving officiating for the benefit of athletes, coaches and fans.”
TrackMan is used by all 30 Major League Baseball teams, top amateur organizations, major college summer leagues and installed in more than 500 stadiums worldwide.
The technology will be used for all conference baseball games and the SEC Baseball Tournament.
