Illegal miners arrested for invading Atewa Forest are in custody
Koforidua Court B has remanded the police custody of 10 illegal miners arrested for committing galamsey in Asiakwa section of Atewa reserve forest to reappear on February 21, 2022.
9 other suspects who were also arrested on Wednesday by forest rangers for committing galamsey in Samang Dwaso section of Atewa Nature Reserve were also arrested again on the same day.
The prosecutor who prayed the court to re-arrest the suspects indicated that the police are still conducting further investigations.
Kibi Forestry Division Manager Emmanuel Antwi who has spoken to Citi News about his daily patrols in the Atewa nature reserve said “the commission is ready to execute its mandate fully.”
