The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has said that the electoral pattern in the Volta Region will change drastically for the party, if they get the approval of the delegates in the primaries.
He said he is very happy with the people of the Volta Region, whom he described as his second home, adding that their goodwill will influence the choice of the President in the 2024 elections.
“For the people of the Volta Region, this is a case of bringing Alan and we will have change,” the flag bearer said at a press conference in Ho last Thursday.
Mr. Kyerematen said that history may not favor the NPP in the general elections in the Volta Region, but it is now clear that Ghana needs a new precedent that requires the election of a new leader who will use his credibility with the people to lift the country to greater heights of development.
“The 2024 general election is very critical in the country’s history, with more focus on the leader who will be the choice of the majority of Ghanaians, and not just the leader of a political party,” he said.
Initiative
Mr. Kyerematen said that Ghana will rise again under the Great Transformation Agenda (GTA), which will involve the utilization of the available and rapid resources in the country to create wealth for the nation.
For example, he said, adding value to extracts from the petrochemical and bauxite sectors, and boosting the pharmaceutical and automobile industries will rapidly transform the country’s fortunes and create many jobs for Ghanaians.
He touched on the Presidential Special Initiative (PSI) on cassava, starch, palm oil, garments and textiles, and industrial salt during the era of President Kufuor, which he said was his idea, and promised a greater commitment of resources to the initiative to achieve it. great fortune for the nation.
Mr. Kyerematen said he introduced the PSI when Ghana was working on the HIPC initiative, and this testified a lot to his status as a man with a big vision for his country.
On the continental front, he said he played a key role in bringing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA) secretariat to Ghana, clearly showing his patriotism and support for continental harmony.
Presenting the economic situation, he admitted that the national budget is in crisis, adding that the IMF support the government wants to correct the economic weakness and bring the economy back to pre-COVID levels.
Furthermore, he said the GTA is also to ensure that Ghana does not go to the IMF again after the economy is restored.
Before that, Mr. Kyerematen went to Ho Central Market where he was welcomed by the traders.
“We have embraced you wholeheartedly,” said the Market Queen, Rejoice Novixoxo to the eager flag bearer, amid loud cheers from the merchants.
Mr. Kyerematen also held a closed meeting with local clerics as part of his visit to the Volta Regional capital.
