Speaking to Accra based GHOne TV, he said the party believes in a hierarchical system where people are in line to take up available positions in the party.

“For me and Nana Akufo-Addo it comes from Prof. Adu Boahen. And I am always behind Nana Akufo-Addo, the president of the presidency. We have a good relationship in Parliament and as ministers.
“It was always going to happen that he would be gone before I was gone … and I thought that when it was over, I would inherit it,” he said.
Dr Apraku, former Minister of Regional Cooperation under former President John Agyekum Kufour, will face competition from former Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kyerematen Assin, Central MP Ken Agyapong, Vice President Dr. Former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and former Mampong MP Francis Addai-Nimoh for the flagbearership position of the NPP.
