Bus Driver Facing Homicide Charges After Crashing Into Daycare Center & Killing 2 Children

A Canadian bus driver is facing manslaughter charges after he allegedly crashed a bus into a daycare center on purpose, injuring six children and killing two.

Just one tragic story came to light early Wednesday when an unnamed 51-year-old man was driving a city bus to a children’s center in Laval, Quebec – a town outside Montreal. CBS News it was reported that he was employed by a local transit agency Laval Transport Company when he destroys the bus he creates a route.

Laval police chief Peter Pike said in a statement the incident appeared to come out of nowhere – although he speculated on purpose:

“We think it was intentional but we don’t know the motive.”

according to CTV NewsWitnesses to the horrific scene described the driver as “out of his mind” as he exited the bus:

“He was acting very erratically. He was shouting and took off his clothes at one point.

Local residents Hamdi Benchabane toward The Guardian and Montreal News same story, also adding it took three parents to subdue the bus driver for yelling:

“The first thing he did was take off all his clothes after opening the bus door … He just shouted; not a word came out of his mouth … We had to hit him to subdue him, and he was pinned to the ground, and then the police arrested him.”

The outlet reported about 80 children under the age of five entered the treatment center. One parent, who remained anonymous, said it was the oldest class of children at the center that was affected. An aerial view of the accident also concluded that the bus driver swerved off the road and directly into the front of the building. So scary…

Of the children who were hit, two have tragically died and six have been taken to hospital. One of the children died at the scene, while the other died while under medical supervision. The remaining six injured children are in stable condition, according to the report CTV News.

The bus driver has been arrested and faces murder charges for the accident, and CNN reports he also faces reckless driving charges.

Minister of the family of Quebec Suzanne Roy said in a statement after learning of the incident:

“Everyone is very saddened by what happened. When you leave your child in daycare for the day, you know they are in good hands…

Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau also said, expressing his condolences:

“No words can take away the pain and fear that parents, children and workers are feeling – but we are here for you.”

So terrible. Condolences to the families affected by this unthinkable tragedy.
