“It does not appear that there is a bottom to which Donald’s support can’t fall to,” Enten told CNN’s John Berman.
His net approval rating with independents, per Gallup, also fell from -2 in January to -35 this month.
“If you’re not winning among independents, you’re probably not winning overall,” Enten said.
Enten went on to declare that Trump broke his own record by having the worst net approval rating ever among independents six months into a presidential term. In July 2017, per an aggregate of polling, the figure was -23.
“There appears to be no fall, and Trump is certainly falling through that floor,” he said.
Berman proceeded to ask how inflation may have contributed to Trump’s net approval ratings with the group.
Enten, who noted that the issue cost Joe Biden the presidency “more than any other factor,” remarked that Trump’s net approval rating on inflation among independents (-45) is “actually worse” than the figure for Biden (-38) a year ago.

“I never thought I’d see the day — especially this early on in the Trump administration — the issue that in large part got him elected is, at this point, [is] the issue more so than any other that is dragging him down,” he said.
“If this is what we have on midterm day come 2026, I can promise you this: The Republican majority in the House, you can wave, ‘Adios, amigos,’ goodbye to it, because Republicans — simply put — can’t win with this number.”
