Chrissy Teigen has it right.
Then-President Donald TrumpThe White House apparently asked Twitter to take down a 2019 tweet in which the model called Trump a “pussy-ass dog” – which, to be fair, is a pretty puss move by the Trump administration.
The revelations came during a House Oversight Committee hearing Wednesday into Twitter’s leftist bias in censoring posts about the Hunter Biden laptop story..
The hearing turned strange when Democrats asked Anika Collier Navaroli, a former Twitter employee who helped shape the social network’s policy, about the incident to highlight Republican hypocrisy.
“The White House almost immediately contacted Twitter to request that the tweet be removed. Is that accurate?” Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.), asked Navaroli in a video shared on Twitter.
“I remember hearing that we had received a request from the White House to make sure we evaluated this tweet, and they wanted to take it down because it was a derogatory statement against the president,” Navaroli said.
“He wants to come down?” asked Connolly. “He made the request?”
“To remember, yes,” Navaroli said.
“I think this is inappropriate behavior by a government official,” Connolly said. “What about the White House. But it’s not Joe Biden about his son’s laptop. It’s Donald Trump because he doesn’t like what Chrissy Teigen said about him.
Navaroli also read Teigen’s tweet verbatim into the recording.
Which, apparently, Teigen also saw:
The Washington Post reported that Twitter officials evaluated Teigen’s tweet and allowed it to remain on the platform because Twitter’s policy on insults is “up to 3 insults allowed” in any tweet.
So, here’s Teigen’s 2019 tweet, which remains on the platform to this day, in all its glory:
Teigen’s colorful description of the former president was the result of Trump sending a series of tweets in September 2019 in which he called Teigen’s husband, musician John Legend, “boring“and it’s called Teigen”his wife has a dirty mouth.”
Trump tagged Legend in his post, but didn’t tag Teigen — but he clearly heard her comment.
