Turkey Earthquake: All 18 Ghanaian students in the affected area are expected to be fine – Ambassador
All Ghanaian students living in earthquake affected areas in Turkey are considered, Ghana’s Ambassador to Turkey, Francisca Ashietey-Odunton, said.
“They sleep in open tents, that’s what we recommend,” said Alfred Ocansey on TV3’s Ghana Tonight show on Wednesday, February 8.
He added, “they will be evacuated from the disaster area to Ankara and Istanbul.”
“Thank you, the Ghanaian community, some of them agreed to host. All 18 students have been counted, and they are fine,” he stressed.
Regarding the status of Christian Atsu, Madam Ashietey-Oduntun said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Turkey announced that Atsu was found alive and sent to a medical facility for medical treatment.
But he said the challenge was that he was not aware of the specific facilities that Ghanaian footballers receive for medical treatment.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Turkey has informed me that Atsu has been found, rescued and sent to a medical facility for medical treatment and will update me.
“They are working hard to find medical facilities that have been sent to them
“The challenge is to find the facility Astsu is sent to. I am still waiting for the Minister to tell me,” said Alfred Ocansey on TVE’s Ghana Tonight program
“They continue to assure that if he is found alive, he will be taken to a medical facility for attention. When I get an update, I will let you know,” he added.
