FIFA president reacts to earthquake in Turkey
FIFA president Gianni Infantino has pledged solidarity and support from the world football body to the people of Turkey and Syria after the deadly earthquake on Saturday.
More than 2,500 people were reported dead in the 7.8 magnitude earthquake and aftershocks.
In a statement to pay tribute to the victims of the disaster, FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed his deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and those injured in this tragedy,” he said.
The disaster left several footballers, mostly Hatayspor players, trapped for hours in the rubble.
Most of them – among the Atsu Christian Ghanaians – have been rescued.
“We want to express our solidarity and support to the citizens of both countries during this terrible time.”
