‘Because You Want Our Votes, You’re Now Visiting Us For The First Time In Six Years’ – Western North NPP Fumes At Alan Kyerematen | Politics

Stakeholders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Western North are fuming with anger over what they say is an attempt by the former Minister of Trade, Alan Kyerematen to take them for granted when the NPP Gear up for its flagbearership contest.

Alan stepped down from government as Trade Minister to pursue his dream of becoming a flag bearer and at the weekend, his campaign took him to the North West to seek a delegate vote.

However, a rare visit to the North West resulted in the delegation accusing Mr. Alan Kyerematen of neglecting that part of the country for so long and now only looking for a way because he wants his vote.

Some of the executives and delegates who attended the meeting with Alan on Saturday sounded disappointed and angry after the meeting.

Alan has been ignoring us all these years, and now it seems like he really cares about us. why now? It’s clear because they want our votes, but trust me, we’re not stupid”, a constituency executive said.

I have been an active member of the NPP for many years, both in the old Western Region and the new Western North Region and I can say for a fact that I do not remember any level of serious interaction and support Alan has had with us. and party members in the region are senior members of the government. The relationship doesn’t exist, but what do we see now? He is here with his team to seek support to lead our party. It can’t be like that”, Another executive fumed.

The delegate added that in PLTN, all those who have succeeded in winning the hearts of delegates to lead the party as flag bearers in the past; from former President John Agyekum Kufuor to President Nana Akufo-Addo, maintained strong ties with party members across the country and also worked for the party before the elections.

This is the difference between Alan Kyerematen and Dr. Bawumia. When Alan was not seen here all these years, Dr. Bawumia often comes here to attend events of the party and join us for other social events of party members”. the executives added.

Also Dr. Bawumia spends many days with us here working and campaigning for the party and he always comes. So when we see Dr. Bawumia here and say we should support him, it is not because of his voice that he is here. We have built a relationship and this will be the right time to support and support him.

Meanwhile, NPP executives and delegates in the North West have also expressed their dismay and anger at Alan’s campaign message which they say is aimed at attacking the NPP government.

Several media outlets have reported how the former Trade Minister told delegates about the economic situation under the Akufo-Addo government and how difficult it is for the NPP to formulate its campaign message for the 2024 elections.

The delegates were angry that Mr. Alan Kyerematen, who had been in the Akufo-Addo government until last month, vaguely attacked the government because of his ambition to be the flag bearer.

It is unfortunate that he wanted to lead the NPP, but he found it convenient to attack the NPP government because he wanted to seize the presidential ambition.

“The question we delegates are asking ourselves is that if you attack the NPP Government in this way, which record of the government will you use to campaign when you seek the leadership of the party?”
