As you may have heard by now, Joy-Anna Duggar is pregnant with her third child.
To please her fans, Joy loves to share photos and updates during her pregnancy.
And for the most part, her social media followers appreciate her frequent posts.
But at least someone didn’t like the photos of baby Joy growing up.
Of course, we’re talking about Joy’s ultra-conservative father, Jim Bob Duggar.
Now, Jim Bob is skeptical of social media in general – in fact, he forbids his children from joining Facebook’s Instagram until they’ve found their perfect match and are engaged.
Jim Bob’s fear, it seems, will be seduced by non-Evangelicals and wind up running to join the demonic circus, or something.
We are not kidding when we are called ultra-conservative people!
Anyway, today it seems that Jim Bob has accepted that social media is a necessary evil of the modern age.
But that doesn’t mean he approves of Joy’s way of using it.
You see, once upon a time, Jim Bob and Michelle created a strict dress code for their children, and they were angry that some people had chosen to ignore them as adults.
Jinger is the first Duggar daughter to wear pants to defy her parents’ belief that women should only wear floor-length skirts.
And now, Joy has followed suit with her jeans rocking proudly in her latest selfie.
Now, it doesn’t appear that Joy has made any statement about this act of sartorial rebellion.
They are just pregnant women who seek to maximize their comfort as they approach their due date.
Joy explained that when she entered her third trimester, she wore “anything” that suited her “growing bumps”
Based on the comments, Joy’s fans are very happy with their newfound freedom.
As far as potential consequences go, we’re guessing Joy isn’t too worried.
There was a time, not too long ago, when Jim Bob ruled his children with an iron fist.
But times have changed, and the power of the patriarch has greatly diminished in recent years.
This is partly a result of Josh Duggar’s conviction on child pornography charges.
The revelation that Jim Bob’s eldest son (and alleged favorite) grew up to become a predatory monster cost him a considerable amount of moral authority.
But the reason why JB is not as brave as before, is because he is not rich as before.
The Duggar media empire is a thing of the past, and while Jim Bob may have money from other ventures, he’s reportedly very spread out these days.
So Jim Bob can’t buy his kids’ loyalty like he used to.
And luckily, Joy seems to be embracing her newfound freedom!
