For Youtuber to be a prizefighter Jake Paul has unbelievable ambitions. He wants to become a world champion and he is confident that it will happen in the next two or three years.
“I want to be a world champion. I’m going to be a world champion and these fights are all just stepping stones to get there. I’m slowly improving,” said Paul. Sky Sports News.
“I have sparred against world champions and finished phenomenally against them, so who knows what can happen in two to three years from now when I go to my athletic prime? I started to really, really get this sport and all aspects of it .
“It’s scary what can happen. I’m not only going to be world champion, but I’m going to be a dominant world champion and beat other people for the belt.”
Paul is an undefeated 6-0 professional boxer, despite wins thus far against various other cross-over athletes.
His boxing career includes wins over former mixed martial artists, including UFC legend Anderson Silva. Tommy Fury, who will fight Paul on February 26 in Saudi Arabia, will be his first opponent who comes from a boxing background.
“You can expect Fury face down on the canvas, passed out and it will happen quickly. Get the popcorn but don’t blink,” Paul announced.
“They hate me beating Tyron Woodley, they hate me beating Anderson Silva, they don’t know they’re both 10 times better boxers than Tommy Fury.
“So critics and sheep who believe that Jake Paul has not fought a real boxer, a man of age, they are technically right and this is a dead check. So that will be fun to close people up.
“The kid is good but he’s not good and he’s never been there with someone who wants more than him.
“I am hyper-competitive and I want to be the best in whatever I do. So I feel that my whole life has led me to this point and come up with a different narrative, through Youtube and the Disney Channel and to change the sport of boxing, how to promote done, how the fighters are paid, how the event looks, that for me excites me, for innovation in this sport that has been needed for the past decade or so.
“I love helping this sport.”
Fury’s fight with Paul has fallen through twice before due to injury and visa issues.
“Because if you’re convinced in your own mind that you can take this guy down a second time before things get out of control, it’s hard,” Fury said. Sky Sports News.
“He had two lucky escapes from previous fights and he had to take them.
“Be careful what you wish for.”
He made fun of Paul’s world championship dreams. “It’s like saying pigs will fly. I’m going to teach Jake Paul a lesson on February 26. I’m going to show him that he can’t take the gloves off any time you want and say, ‘Oh. I’m going to be world champion,'” Fury said.
“The world champion is determined and the world champion is born and he is definitely not the world champion. He is not the champion or anything in boxing and he will find out on February 26.
“He’s fighting an old man. He’s 50 years old, 40 years old, a wrestler, an NBA star. He’ll be able to fight Tiger Woods after me,” added Fury. “Can you do that?
“I’m first [boxing] the person who came up to him and could have lifted the task a little easier for himself.
“I’m going to knock Jake Paul out, too early.”
