Visually-impaired person tasks government on policies, welfare | The Guardian Nigeria News

Requests have been made to the government, policy makers and corporate bodies to employ, empower and support people with disabilities (PWD).

Blind man and Chief Executive Officer of African Crafts, Adebayo Muritala, made the call at a forum in Oshogbo, the Osun State capital.

He advised the government to support programs that will make life easy for people with disabilities and also approve bills for people with disabilities and implement them.

He said: “It is also important for policy makers to raise awareness of disability, as this will change the negative perception and stigma towards people with disabilities in society.”

He also donated clothes and cash to 20 physically challenged people, adding that the gesture was aimed at giving back to the community.

Speaking as a representative of the beneficiaries, Mama lbeji appreciates Murtala’s gesture to shower love and care for the blind and his family.

He prayed for donors, asked the government and others to do more for the disabled.
