The country’s most promising young talents see action starting Sunday at the exclusive The Country Club (TCC) in Laguna as the Philippine Golf Tour holds its first ever Philippine Junior Golf Tour (PGT).
A total of 91 players have entered, most of them descendants of current tour professionals and teachers led by Zachary Villaroman and Precious Zaragosa, son and daughter of former junior world champion Carito Villaroman and national coach Boyet Zaragosa.
This will be the first of 17 total events scheduled for the PGT this year, and what makes this circuit unique is that there is no membership fee to play here and the tournament—drive, pitch and putt—will be run by PGT men and women.
The new circuit is also not affiliated with any of the existing junior golf groups in the country.
The winners then have the opportunity to get sponsorship from ICTSI to compete abroad.
To maintain the orderly conduct of the tournament, strict rules and regulations will be enforced during play.
