Conservative lawyer George Conway on Wednesday highlighted the “big difference” between the discovery of classified materials controlled by President Joe Biden and former Vice President Mike Pence on the one hand and former President Donald Trump on the other.
“We wouldn’t be talking about this case if Donald Trump hadn’t obstructed justice and largely surrounded the National Archives and Records Administration and the Department of Justice for a year and a half,” Conway told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.
“It’s just not going to be significant on people’s radar screens,” added the wife of former Trump White House adviser Kellyanne Conway.
Conway, a fierce critic of Trump, acknowledged the importance of discovery in all cases.
“But the fact is, because Trump has pushed it so far by stonewalling justice, and refusing to produce all the documents when requested, and then lying through his lawyers, now we have a situation where all the people who have classified documents that they shouldn’t have. are going to get more scrutiny instead of what they would do if it was reversed,” he said.
“One person tried to save his shoes as explosives, and now we all have to pick up our shoes at the airport,” he said.
