Ofori-Atta won’t be sacked because Akufo-Addo has faith in him – Assibey Yeboah

Speaking in an interview in Accra, the former Chairman of the Finance Committee in Parliament said the demand by some New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament that the Minister of Finance be fired will not be fulfilled.

“The President said that Ken did a very good job. He said that he did a very good job. He also never said that he would fire him (Ofori-Atta) during the rebellion by NPP MPs, he told him to complete the IMF negotiations so that can revisit the issue.

“… He (Ofori-Atta) is not going anywhere. He will not resign; why should he resign? The man is doing a very good job, according to the president.

“The finance minister represents the president. Another time I caught one of the members of parliament that he told Ofori-Atta to reduce the E-Levy to 1.5 percent but he did not listen so he should be fired. The budget is the president’s budget and the cabinet meets to determine the rate E-levy. Is this a basis for Ofori-Atta to resign or be sacked,” he said in Twi.

In a previous interview, Dr. Vice President, Dr. Assibey Yeboah, said that the country’s economy is developing rapidly. Mahamudu Bawumia will be a good president.

He explained that although he did not support Nana Addo when he named Bawumia as his deputy, he has proved himself worthy of support.

According to him, the economic analysis of Dr. Bawumia and the right response to the problem has won.

He said Dr Bawumia’s hard work has been seen and he will be a good president in the future.
