Operation Forest Sanity has rescued 16 abducted victims during an operation along Birnin Gwari-Kaduna road and Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, announced this in a statement on Wednesday.
“The troops responded to an emergency call at the Udawa-Manini axis on the Birnin Gwari-Kaduna road. The troops came to deal with the attack, saving 15 people in the process. Some of the rescued people who sustained injuries were taken to hospital for treatment,” Aruwan said.
“In response to credible intelligence on the movement of bandits in the interstate border area, troops established ambush positions around the general area of Mangoro made contact with the bandits, and one of the bandits was neutralized during the fight.”
The commissioner said that one of the prisoners was injured by the robber and has been sent to Jaji canton hospital for treatment.
According to him, one AK47 rifle, one pump action rifle, one explosive device, one Baofeng radio, and 10 motorcycles have been found.
Aruwan said the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, praised the troops for the successful rescue and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
