Runner of the Week Boys

Baylor Franklin, Ole Miss

Franklin, setting the NCAA lead in the men’s 800 meters, won the event at the Vanderbilt Invitational with an indoor career-best 1:46.74. Along with teammate Tiarnan Crorken (1:47.39), the tandem made their second NCAA mark of the season. It is the second-fastest time by a Rebel men’s runner indoors, trailing only national champion George Kersh’s 1:46.19 from the 1991 NCAA Indoor Championships.

Sunday Men’s Field Athlete

Dontavious Hill, Auburn

Hill, winning the high jump at the Vanderbilt Invite set a personal best indoor mark. In his second attempt at the height, Hill cleared 2.21m/7-3 for the No. 2 mark in the NCAA and the No. 4 player in Auburn history. Hill’s performance helped the Auburn men’s team rank No. 6 nationally and No. 1 regionally in the latest USTFCCA poll.

New people on Sunday

Jordan Anthony, Kentucky

Anthony, won the 60-meter dash at the Red Raider Open with a time of 6.55 seconds, breaking the new Kentucky record he set a week ago. That’s No. 2 in school history, just 0.01 shy of the standard set by British Olympian Tim Harden. Anthony is ranked No. 4 in the NCAA in the 60m.

Female Runner of the Week

Masai Russell, Kentucky

Russell, set the college record in the 60-meter hurdles at the Red Raider Open with a time of 7.75 seconds, surpassing the mark of 7.78 set by Grace Stark of Florida at the 2022 NCAA Championships and Brianna Rollins of Clemson in 2013. Kentucky is owned by the eventual Olympic medalist Keni Harrison, who posted a winning time of 7.87 in the 2015 NCAA Championships.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Jasmine Mitchell, Ole Miss

Mitchell, winning the shot put by two feet at the Vanderbilt Invitational, launched a two-foot PR of 17.42m/57-2. He currently leads the SEC and is ranked No. 3 in the NCAA in the shot put, as well as No. 8 in the world and No. 4 in the United States this year indoors. Mitchell also finished runner-up in the weight throw in a season-best 24.06m / 78-11.25, improving in place at No. 2 both in the SEC and NCAA behind teammate Jalani Davis.

New women on Sunday

Kyle Jackson, Georgia

Jackson, after opening with 400m in the first meet, ran in the first collegiate 200m of his career and finished in 23.45 for altitude. It was the fastest freshman finish of the year and ranked 14th on the national list. Jackson’s time ranks No. 5 in school history.
